Tenerife is a popular holiday destination for lots of different reasons. But of course everyone has a different idea of what constitutes a great holiday.

For example some people will head out to the liveliest resort in Tenerife – somewhere with bars and clubs to enjoy. Others will pick beaches to relax on every single day they are there.

And still more will choose Buenavista del Norte, purely because of the amazing golf course it has available.

There are other reasons to visit the area on the north western point of the island, but let’s take a look at the golf course first. The course has been open for several years and when you hear that the famed golfer Severiano Ballesteros designed it, you’ll know you are in for a treat.

This is an eighteen hole course that not only treats you to some amazing golf, it also has some stunning scenery to appreciate on the way round as well. The ocean is right there next to you and you can see the mountains close by too.

But is this all that Buenavista del Norte has to offer?

Not a bit of it – you will also find it an ideal area to visit if you love walking and hiking. The beach of Playa de los Barqueros may be rocky but it is still worth exploring if you are wearing decent shoes. Added to this there is the ample countryside to explore, with gorgeous views to appreciate that are far from the more built up tourist areas in Tenerife.

This is really a more natural and down to earth part of Tenerife – a more realistic and real part, if you like. It may not suit everyone to base a holiday here as you may literally run out of things to do. But a week’s worth of rest and relaxation is ideal in Buenavista del Norte, particularly if your idea of relaxing is to wield a golf club and try to stay under par at the local golf course.

You may not manage it, but you’ll certainly have some fun trying.
